The health system

President Obama was talking today about some plans to change the way the health system is working, I hope he is going to do something radical to improve this system, because as it is right now is not good at all, to have a coverage lfor one person is really expensive, and to get a plan for an entire family is almost impossible, a simple healt insurance plan for me my girlfriend and my daghter cost around $1,500, this is too much, I hope president Obama will do something good and soon.

What is the secret of happiness

I don't know what is the secret, but I hope that I can find out what it is.
Anyway I think that the hippiness is not a point in life, I think happiness is to walk the path and learn from everything we experiment in life, we have to learn from the good and the bad things that happen to us in life, maybe happiness is to accept the life as it is, with good and not so good things.

As a small child what was your favorite pastime

When I was a child I loved to play outside, the ggod thing in Colombia is that hte weather is te same all year long, the temperature in Medellin, the city where I was born is about 75 to 85 degree Farenhait all the time.

Writing and writing

I am getting used to write on this blog and actually it is easier everytime, it is a good exercise after all, at the beginning it was very boring for me, and it was very difficult to find something to write about, but now I am just writing and writing and it is fun.
I am sitting in front of my TV watching a movie called Jumper, I think I have seen it about three times, but it''s a good one, I have just moved from Stratford, I lived over there for almost 4 years, now I am living in Stamford again and I love it; Stamford is more fun there is a lot of thinks to do in here, and it is easy to find anything you need, back in Stratford everything you need is so far or is not available....anyway I love to live in Stamford again.

Finishing my book

I have just finished my FVR book, it was a really good book, it is called 1984 and the guy relate how is the live under a new world order and there is just one authority called Big Brother, they can hear, watch, and know whatever you do ( sounds familiar??), this happened in London in 1984, it was a very good book, the surprising thing is that the author wrote this book in 1949, how he could know that his book will become a reality after 50 fifty years??, this just amazed me.

Last assigments

Its Sunday, and I feel relieve because I already have sent the last essay for reading and writitng, I had a little stress because it had to be done over the internet and it had a lot of conditions, anyway is good to finish semester and have a little rest during the summer, thanks god the weather is getting better and I can start to do activities outside like play Basquetball or tennis, and I also love to go to the beach with my girlfriend and my daughter.

What is the most significant invention in the history

I think the most significant invention in the history of the world is..........Defenitely the internet. jajaja

I think the wheel, this simple tool helped the human kind to get a great advance and helped to develop the agriculture, civilization, the wheel made life easier for every one in the world, it helped to build huge structures, and until today almost all the tools we use, every single machine we use in our everyday life need a wheel.

If I went to a desert island

WHich one book would you take with you?

I would take a realy big book like 'Don Quijote' or the Bible, because after I got bored of reading it, I could use the sheets to make fire and the rest of the book as pillow.

Which one person would you like to go with you?

I would go with my girlfriend which is my best friend, is my love and she is a very good company.

Which one modern convenience would you like to take?

this is a hard one, I am not sure what to take with me, because I just can think about electric or electronic things....but it is a desert island, so.......I think i WILL TAKE A SATTELITE phone, to call for rescue when I got bored.....jajaja

What if I have just 24 left

After I read Chi's blog about this topic I started to think about it, and I just think of share the last day with my daughter and my girlfriend, and I will fly with them to Colombia to reunite with my family, my parents, my sisters my nephews, my niece, and also my friends, I will spend about 6 hours to get there by plane and after I reunite with all of them, I will eat all the good things my mom cook, I will drink all the whiskey I can, and I will talk, and talk, and talk with all my loved ones until the end.

The first 100 days

I am in front of the TV watching president's Obama speech, I think it is very soon to apreciate what he is fullfilling, but I hope that he will do great things for the country and for the whole world; at least he has a very good plan to resolve all of the big issues that we have to resolve, and the best thing is that he wants to talk with the countries that Bush considered as USA enemies, I think this strategy will work much better than Bush's, which was just fight them and send to war the young people of this country.

The new Flu

It is incredible how things works these days, that new kind of Flu has spread all over the world in less than a week and it could turn into a pandemic, it is amazing when you think how many people travels from one country to another and so on, just in one day.
It is also scary when you see how a simple cold can turn into an sacry Flu that kills people.

The new book

I am excited about the FVR book we are going to read for class, the one that I choose is about a guy who live in a new kind of world order, a world with a new name, a new language for everyone on earth, same currency.
The good thing about it is that the guy who wrote the book, did it in 1930, and just imagined who would be the world in 1984.

Is human life just a dream, from which we never really awake, as some great thinkers claim? Are we submerged by our feelings, by our loves and hates, by our ideas of good, bad, beautiful, awful? Are we incapable of knowing beyond those ideas and feelings?

We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little lifeIs rounded with a sleep…William Shakespeare.

A man that is born falls into a dream like a man who falls into the sea...Joseph Conrad.

Recycle

As I was walking down the street, I noticed them for the first time. They were everywhere. Who brought them? How long had they been there? These blue bins with cool triangles on the sides of them were taking over. I had heard of these things in school, but I didn’t realize how popular they were. Some have holes for cans or bottles, while others are for paper products. We have all been told that we should use them. Most of us have started to use them, but we don’t go out of our way to do it. Maybe we don’t realize how helpful recycling can be. Maybe we don’t care because we don’t think recycling affects us, but the truth is, recycling is beneficial to us environmentally, economically, and personally.

Hybrid cars

Hybrid cars are a new generation of automobiles that strive for the highest economic standards. The point of hybrid cars is not to take away all the luxuries of gas cars like horsepower and torque but to make for a more environmentally friendly car. In these early stages of development there is a noticeably lesser amount of power than a gas car. Future projects are showing that hybrid cars in the future will have just as much power as a gas car today. For now hybrid cars have the same price and features as a gas car but it will cost you much less in the long run because of their high gas mileage. Hybrid cars will make a difference because of its almost zero emissions and the money it saves on gas. Just think of being able to drive twice as far on a tank of gas and saving money while doing it.A hybrid car is a car with both a gas powered engine and an electric motor. The electric motor is powered by batteries, which are recharged while driving the same way as with a normal car battery. The gas engine is the same as one that would be found in a normal car. These two power sources can be used simultaneously or by themselves depending on what the car is doing. An electric car is one that runs purely off an electr Hybrid cars are a new generation of automobiles that strive for the highest economic standards. MORE ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Global warming is an increase in the earth's temperature due to fossil fuels, industry, and agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas emissions. This results in an increased emission of greenhouse gases. Short-wave solar radiation sinks into the Earth's atmosphere and warms its surface; while longwave infrared radiation emitted by earth's surface is absorbed, and then re-emitted by trace gases. Climate changes occur in our earth's atmosphere due to a buildup of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases can occur naturally as well as a result of human activities. Problems can occur when higher concentrations of greenhouse gases are present in our atmosphere because they have enhanced our earth's heat trapping capability. There are many misconceptions about global warming. Some believe that pollution causes global warming, but the fact is global warming is the result of burning fossil fuels, coal, and oil that release carbon dioxide.

MORE ON CLIMATE CHANGE

By the end of this century, our planet may look very different from how it does today. Many small island nations might no longer exist, inundation of coastal areas could lead to the displacement of hundreds of millions of people, and former agricultural lands could become unable to support crops. While all countries are vulnerable to the consequences, developing countries are especially at risk. Their economies will suffer most from the heightened frequency of extreme droughts, floods and storms associated with climate change. There is a real risk that climate change could undermine human development. We must not let that happen”.By the end of this century, our planet may look very different from how it does today. CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is the biggest challenge that we face in the world today. It is already leading to significant changes in the world’s physical environment. Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent. Glaciers are melting. Sea ice and snow cover are declining. Animals and plants are responding to an earlier spring. Global warming has already driven up mean sea levels by 10-20 centimetres (4-8 inches) during the last 100 years, and this is forecast to rise by up to another 88 centimetres (35 inches) by 2100. It is a sobering fact that around 100 million people globally live less than 88 centimetres above sea level.” Climate change is the biggest challenge that we face in the world today. Another blog

Wind Energy

Wind power according to many individuals and scientists is produced by windmills and wind turbines. Wind turbines are all over the world today and in full use. These wind turbines supply much of the energy that many individuals have going into his or her homes now; however, they are just simply not aware of it. Wind power through the use of the wind turbines supply many power plants with an alternative energy source. One that is environmentally safe and effective.

The end of the crisis

Last Tuesday, Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the Federal Reserve, predicted that 2010 “will be a year of recovery” On Friday, Americans learned that the gross domestic product fell 6.2 percent in the last quarter of 2008, suggesting that the recession may be deeper than anticipated. So when, exactly, will the misery end? I do not now but I hope it is going to be soon, bacause I had never seen something like this before in my entire life and I don't want to see this anymore.

The nes blog

Hi everyone, this blog is part of my homework for esl class 142 and I have to post a blog 3 times a week and it is very hard for me to seat in front of the pc and just start to write about anything with no reason, that's why from now on everytime I write on this blog I will do it about the economic crisis (boring) I now, but at least in this way I now what to write about every time.

Here I am on a regular Sunday trying to write something interesting, at the same time I am watching tv, on the news it is showing the carnival on Rio de Janeiro, it is nice to see that amount of people happy and dancing and enjoying this big party instead of being fighting like everyone else on the news, it is refreshing to see these kind of fun things on the news.
I am still in front of the tv, I am not really very focus on this but I know that this is part of my homework and I am really engage with this class, I really want to improve my wrtiting skills; however, it is really hard for me to focus on just writing about anything, but I am going to keep trying.

places I call home

There is so many places I love to visit, but there is nothing like home, I actually have two places I call home, the fisrt one is Stratford, CT, where I am living right now, it is a quiet town Northeastern United States, life in here is calm, secure and it is a very nice environment for my daughter to grow up, I go to college at Norwalk, another little town in the same area and work here, too. There is another place which is my home town, the city's name is Medellin, it is a big industrialized city in Colombia (South America), with around 3 million people, the wheather is always nice, temperature is about 26 degree celcius or 75-80 Farenheit, it is a valley surrounding by big mountains, people is very friendly, women are beautiful and the most important thing all my family is living there.
In general everywhere in Colombia I feel home, because is the place I was born and grew up, I know the culture, the language and a very important thing, I do not need visa to go there.
There is another beautiful place in Colombia, it is called San Andres Islands, in this place I feel home, I feel in paradise, everything in there is wonderful, beautiful beaches, the sea colors are unique in this place, they called it the seven colors sea, because from the heights you can see different tones of green on the water.
